The platform “Social Entrepreneurship Ankara” organized “Design Thinking and Implementation” event with an aim to raise awareness about the social entrepreneurship and its potential to tackle social challenges. Social Sciences University of Ankara is one of the founding member of the Social Entrepreneurship Ankara initiative led by Ankara Development Agency.
Around 60 participants from various development agencies and ministries had the chance to experiment “Accelerated Design Marathon” and related workshops for 2 days. In the context of “Accelerated Design Marathon”, participant were required to follow design thinking method by addressing the following question: how might we match the potentials in the rural areas ( like natural life experience, organic production, remote village houses, fields, gardens, historical-cultural spaces) with the demand in the city centers? In the later workshops, the participants discussed different social venture ideas. More than 200 different social enterprise ideas were uncovered within the framework of the "Accelerated Design Workshop" and 9 of them were prototyped and shared with the participants. The workshop was led by Seyithan Ahmet Ateş, PhD from the department of Economics.
