A “Workshop on Business Development” has been held at ASBU within the scope of the cooperation protocol signed between the Social Innovation Practice and Research Center at ASBU (ASBU-SIM) and Defence Technologies and Engineering Inc.–STM Think Tech. ASBU Rector, Prof.Dr.Mehmet Barca, STM-Think-Tech team, those representatives from the  private sector and ASBU lecturers participated in the workshop, the aim of which was to realise the cooperation between the two parties.The workshop was very efficient as a result of the exchange of information among different disciplines especially in terms of  developing proposals for projects on “Interactive Research Background in the field of Social Sciences” within the scope of EU Ufuk 2020 Programe. STM which is among the founders of ASBU Sosyokent, the first Technology Development Area on Social Sciences in Turkey, will make use of its experience and capacity in engineering fully during the process of solving the social problems and meeting the social expectations within ASBU-Sosyokent. In the workshop which started with presentations by the related parties, business development ideas aimed at topics stated below as part of the cooperation protocol have been discussed and there was exchange of views about interdisciplinary study opportunities on some specific project proposals.

• Enhancing the cooperation among state-private sector-university-NGOs
• Coming up with innovative solutions for social problems
• Developing interdisciplinary research background in the field of Social Sciences
• ASBU Sosyokent

Considering that materializing the projects in line with the ideas is a small but important step in realising social innovation in Turkey, it has been agreed that a systematic study should be carried out on the invaluable ideas presented in the workshop and see the potential for project design along with the idea developer.
