(Currently Prof. Buang who continues his studes at Shariah (Islamic Law) and Law Department in the Academy of Islamic Studies at University of Malaya, which is one of the prominent universities in Malaysia got his PhD in 1996 from School of Oriental and African Studies at University of London. Prof.Buang is especially involved in issues like (I) Participation Finance (Islamic Finance) (II) Products of Participation Finance (III) Consultative committees and the process of fatwa, which are the major issues in Islamic Law and Participation Finance. He served as consultant and adviser on Shariah matters to several Banks and financial institutions in Malaysia and Singapore. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Council for bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) and Chairman of Shariah Committee for Takaful Ikhlas Berhad (TIB). He has successfully supervised over 30 thesis and dissertations.
