The II. Relational Social Sciences Congress will be held on 10-12 October 2018 at Social Sciences University of Ankara.
The Relational Social Sciences Congress was held for the first time last year in April at the Yeditepe University with a high number of participants. It is considered to be a continuation of the Bourdieu Symposium that previously took place at Adnan Menderes University, Pamukkale University and Akdeniz University. This expansion in the name and focus of the congress is a result of the interest of young social scientists in relational researches. Thus, the II. Relational Social Sciences Congress will take place between 10-12 October at the Social Sciences University of Ankara.
In the international social sciences and especially in the sociology societies, which became prominent in the 1990's, the relational bend made the activity of social science research unproductive and was manifested as a result of the reaction to epistemological dualism.
There are three major paradigmatic relational positions in sociology's relationship with various fields of study and disciplines: the intersection of anthropology / ethnology with sociology; Historical sociology with Charles Tilly, Michael Mann and various fields of study at the intersection of history / writing and sociology; Critical realism with Roy Bhaskar, Margaret Archer and his viewers in various fields and disciplines at the intersection of philosophy and sociology in the search for a metathoric / ontological basis.
In addition to David Harvey critical, realist work on the social sciences in which he relocates geography and spatial analysis to a critical realistic path, it is possible to talk about a social science continent considering the interventions in the periphery in Harrison White's social network theory. The development manifested itself on these foundations has spread directly to various interdisciplinary / higher science fields (communication sciences, political science, international relations, economic sciences, etc.) and fields of study (urban studies, migration studies, old age studies, gender studies, cultural studies, science studies, regional studies, etc.), and has created many effects in these fields.
In Turkey it can be observed that the first results in the three main pragmatic positions emerge in the 2000's and that these researchers contacted each other within a short time. The research network, which began to be embodied as a specific will in the last decade, has also laid the theoretical and institutional foundations of this congress with its publications and educational practices in certain directions. The Congress still maintains this basis. On the other hand, the internal and non-academic reasons for the postponement of this year's Congress to October, which has been taking place for the past four years in April-May, are obviously clear. In this dire situation, in which the epistemic and institutional autonomy of the sciences was damaged, it is indispensable that this complicated project was influenced by it. Thus, in the spirit of continuity, it is encouraging and motivating that the meeting will take place in 2018.
The Relational Social Sciences Congress is open to the participation of scientists, researchers, researchers and researchers who are relational scientists in fields such as sociology, architecture, city region planning, fine arts, women studies, statistics, geography, gerontology, anthropology, economics, labor economics, communication, education sciences, health.
